Welcome to Beaufort County First Steps

Getting children ready for school.

Beaufort County First Steps (BCFS) has continued its work over the past decade to ensure children are at optimal developmental readiness to start kindergarten. BCFS works collaboratively with families, childcare professionals, school district and other agencies to ensure the children served have the tools needed for healthy growth and development.

BCFS support programs for parents, childcare facilities, and educators by directly administering services in-house, and by providing financial support to administer early education services around the county.

Our children are the most important asset in our community, investing in quality childcare and early childhood education will have significant returns to their future. Research show that children learn more in their first 5 years than they will the rest of their life. Whether a parent, teacher or childcare provider, everyone plays a critical role in fostering children's development.

We have made important strides over the past decade to enhance early childhood experiences for children in Beaufort County but there is still much to do. With your support, we look forward to continued future success.

"Young children represent hope for our future.
Early Childhood Education builds a better future for them."
